Welcome to Sydney!

Hey all!

So this is the first post in my Australian summer adventures! It’s going to be full of crocodiles, kangaroos, and koalas. Camping and jungles and danger!

…Not…

I’m here in Sydney for two months doing what everyone wants to do when they travel…work.

In all seriousness though, I am loving it in Sydney and I love working here. My posts about my time here are going to consist of what to do, how much it costs to live in this city (by the way, it’s apparently the most expensive city in the world…), and how to finagle your way past monetary concerns in Australia and still travel and have some awesome adventures while down under.

The One and Only, Sydney Opera House

The first thing to know about Sydney is that it is a harbor city. Due to that, many Sydneysiders claim that the place is really humid, or muggy. Ya…that’s not true. Any of you who have spent some time in Asia, or the East Coast will just love it here. Any of you from dry climates like Arizona, this is the perfect combination of humidity and sun.

That being said, there are some issues my friends and I have encountered here: rain. I’m writing this post on July 5, 2013 and this is the second day that I have seen sun or the sky in the last two weeks. It has been raining nonstop. Quite a different experience for me, coming from Arizona.

Needless to say I loved it! I found some short shorts in that weather, I walked around in that weather, I spent the day out and about in that weather. The rain actually helped me find some good places to talk to you all about. So keep up with my weekly posts and you will get some very interesting point of views of the Sydney and Australian way of life.

See y’all soon!
